There is a number of reasons why I did this. Firstly, I've always loved the Metal Gear Solid series artwork, but I've never got around to actually trying it out. I realised that my comp had a set of brushes that could almost mimic the water-ink used in the caracter art. What got me going was all the feedback I've got on my Raiden picture and I wonder why I didn't go for this style on it from the start. Lastly, after doodling test after test, I noticed that I was using Wallpaper sized dimetions. I needed to switch my Mario wallpaper anyway.
This style is very hard for me to mimic. As you can see, I still haven't quite got it yet, so maybe I'll put up more tests. This is actually the third and fourth attempt that I just tested some backgrounds on (And number 1 and 2 will never be shown to the public ). The large picture of Snake was made first. I think I captured it a bit better on the whole-body one. I didn't make this twards any spesific game. Snake wears something close to his MGS2 gettup, but the background is very MGS3.. so.. meh. Fun fact: The Metal Gear Solid font is standard font in Photoshop CS 2. I downloaded the font to duplicate the logo, so it's not ripped from something on Google.
Even if it's not dead-on to the original art style, this still looks fantastic. I love all those bold black strokes, and the green suits it really well. This makes a fantastic wallpaper.

So I know where you're coming from. I've just gotten sucked into Kojima's artwork and have tried in vain to imitate it but failed each time. Looking at your other artwork, everything else is really tight and well held-together, similar to how I sketch and work. Letting go and scribbling like this wasn't easy for me...
That being said, I think you pulled it off wonderfully. I think that if you let go with the outlines a bit more, it would be perfect. Fantastic job, though, really.
This is unbelievably great. But as one suggestion for a wallpaper, I would remove the wording on the left side. You should make it also available without "Metal Gear Solid Tactical Esp. Act."
Other than that, I love it.
